Umbrella tree. Schefflera actinophylla

Indigenous to northern Queensland

A popular garden species now invading hind-dunes. Only a problem on the far north coast of NSW.

Form: Tree up to 10m high.

Flower: Dark red flowers on large spikes. Autumn to winter.

Fruit/Seed: Dark red to black, arranged on large spikes.

Control: If the plant is cut down, do not leave the trunk or branches on the ground as they can re-establish.

Chemical controls are available. Frill ring at ground level and apply herbicide.
