Climbing asparagus. Protasparagus plumosus

Native to South Africa

This is a problem along the entire coast of NSW. Thick infestations are isolated. Prefers shady sites usually in closed forest.

Form: Wiry climber, twines around supports.

Flower: Greenish-white. Spring to summer.

Fruit/Seed: Light green fruit arranged on ends of fronds.

Control: Remove and dispose of all aerial stems from the site as they can re-establish into new plants. The crown of the plant should also be removed. Chemical controls are available.
