Bridal veil creeper. Myrsiphyllum asparagoides

Native to South Africa

A large problem in southern states of Australia and a problem on some sections of the south and central coast of NSW. Invading hind-dunes, bushland and rainforest. Bridal veil creeper can be confused with a native species, ‘wombat berry (Eustrephus latifolius)’, which generally has non-glossy larger leaves and produces a yellow fruit.

Form: Climbing herb with stems up to 3m long.

Flower: White. Winter to spring.

Fruit/Seed: Red berry.

Control: Need to remove the roots by digging. A number of chemical controls are available.
