Turkey rhubarb. Acetosa sagittata Native to South Africa Invades mainly disturbed sites in coastal rainforest, moist gullies and hind-dunes on the north and central coast. Form: Scrambles, climbing stems greater than 1m long. Flower: Cream. Spring. Fruit/Seed: Papery with three wings, straw colour at maturity. Control: This plant has a large tuber which needs to be removed. This often takes considerable digging. Chemical controls are available. Herbicide spray is most effective. |
