Madeira vine. Anredera cordifolia

Native to tropical South America

Forms very thick infestations, often smothering trees particularly in rainforest areas. It may also invade hind-dunes and headlands on the north and central coast.

Form: Climber, stems up to 20m long.

Flower: Small greenish white and fragrant. Spring to summer.

Fruit/Seed: Seed not set in Australia.

Control: It is best to remove as much of the plant as possible from the site particularly all tubers (underground and aerial). Aerial tubers can be scraped off the vine using a knife.
