Crofton weed. Ageratina adenophora Native to America Grows in disturbed moist areas in gullies and edges of roads along the entire coast. Crofton maybe found growing in similar habitats as its close relative, ‘mist flower (Ageratina riparia)’, also considered a weed. Mist flower can be distinguished by its more slender leaves. Form: Erect herb, 1 - 2m tall. Flower: Densely arranged small white flowers. Spring to summer. Fruit/Seed: Small dry seed with hairs at one end. Control: Crofton can be removed by hand-pulling. Chemical controls are available. Spraying diluted glyphosate is effective. |
