Description: Semi-prostrate spreading shrub to 1 m. Leaves green, lower surface grey-white, ovate to narrow-ovate, 1-3 cm long, 3-11 mm wide. Flowers white occurring spring/autumn. Fruit white with dark spots, fleshy capsule, 5-6mm diam. and matures summer/autumn. Usually found growing in coastal heath and dry sclerophyll coastal forest where it can form a dense understorey.

 

Propagation: Propagate with freshly collected seed from ripe fruit. Remove seed from capsule (seed can be squashed out of fleshy capsule onto newspaper and separated) and plant immediately in clean seedling mix of 2/3 washed river sand and 1/3 peat moss or organic matter. Plants can be propagated by tip and semi-hardwood cuttings.

 

Regeneration use: Climax species, usually used in assisted rehabilitation projects, ie ecosystem has remnant value and is not fully degraded. Can be used as pioneer species. Distribution should be checked (plant occurs only occasionally at limits of its range).
